Burien Magazine recently featured our work in the community – check it out!
Last week, our nation felt once again the pain and suffering caused by violence born out of the insidious evil of racism.
A shockwave swept across our communities, hitting home for our many Asian-American sisters and brothers.
There are no words at this time to express our deepest sorrow for the loss of life in Atlanta. There are also no words that fully express the significant loss for the Asian-American community and for all of us as members of our one human family.
So instead, I want to take a moment to honor one of our region’s greatest: Tom “Tommy” Kobayashi (1926-2018)
Please learn about this wonderful human being, be inspired by his story, his legacy, and his love of humanity!

How do you create engaging virtual learning spaces? Read how Centro Rendu is leveraging relationships with parents, the community, and the Best Starts for Kids Collaborative in South King County to do just that – with a little help from some special animals, too.
In 2019, Gary Shipe spoke with Executive Director Mirya Muñoz Roach about Centro Rendu. The interview was part of St. Vincent de Paul’s Centennial podcast series. Founded in 2013, Centro Rendu exists to protect, support, and defend Latino immigrant families. We do this through education, social services, legal advocacy, and leadership development. We believe in empowering and strengthening healthier communities for future generations.
